Current Version: 1.8.41 released 14-March-2008
(Documentation still forthcoming for version 1.8.41)
WardInfo Purpose
WardInfo is a software package that is intended for use by LDS local church leaders, such as the Bishop or Branch President, and their assistants.
WardInfo has no affiliation with, endorsement by, or recognition by the LDS church.
Because of the availability of information and program design, WardInfo can only be
effectively used under the direction of the Bishop or Branch President of a ward or branch.
WardInfo is intended to do just what President Hinkley was talking about in the Priesthood Session of the October 2002 General Conference, that is to make the life of the Bishop easier.
As a side effect, it also has the potential to make the life of many ward leaders easier, by providing similar tools to them.
The WardInfo program is like a reader for several other information sources, most notably the MIS or MLS output files and some Excel spreadsheets.
Questions or comments should be directed to the author at his email address.
The WardInfo product was developed by Doug Mills, in his spare time (which means in the wee hours of the morning when the kids were sleeping) during the past 4 years.
WardInfo Documentation
Relatively extensive documentation about the basic use and capabilities of the WardInfo package may be
viewed (for the old version 1.8.5) here. Details about the
1.8.41 version are still a bit skimpy, but may be found here.
PowerPoint slideshows are available that help illustrate what Leaders may be interested in and what Clerks may be intersted in.
Examples Using A Fictitous Ward
The data in the Example wards is entirely fictitious. All dates are randomly generated. All member numbers are randomly generated.
All names are randomly selected from an internet-derived list of names.
All addresses are randomly generated from addresses in the city around the author (so that address translation to latitude and longitude coordinates are possible).
All positions and callings are created from the author's experiences, and may not bear a great deal of resemblence to other ward organizations.
Due to the fictitious nature of the 'Example Ward', there may be inconsistencies in the structure or organization. Hopefully these do not detract from the purpose of showing the look and feel of WardInfo.
Minimum Features Versions:
The Minimum Feature versions include the absolute minimum of information, only what is obtained from the Memout, Orgout, and Htvtout files.
Maximum Feature Versions:
The maximum Feature versions include all information that is appropriate for each version, except the local church facilities (for which I have no 'example' data [yet]).
Please read the skimpy documentation for 1.8.41 update information.
