WardInfo Program – Hardware and Software Requirements

Hardware/Software Requirements for Production

To CREATE the viewable WardInfo files, you must run the WardInfo software on a computer that has:

1. Windows 95 or more recent operating system.  Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP are also acceptable.
2. Microsoft Excel 95 or more recent.  Excel 97, or XP also work well.  Excel 2000 must be configured in a certain way to work well.  See here for instructions on configuring Excel 2000.
3. Approximately 20 Mb of disk space.  To use all features (such as pictures) you may need up to 300 Mb of disk space.

Hardware/Software Requirements for Viewing on a PC

To VIEW the WardInfo output files on a Windows PC, you may view or transfer the files to another computer that has:

1. Browsing software, such as Netscape or Internet Explorer.  The browsing software must be able to handle HTML 3.2, which is a standard that was created in the mid 1990’s and which all modern browsers can handle fine.
2. Desktop or handheld PC hardware.

Hardware/Software Requirements for Viewing on a Palm Pilot

To VIEW the WardInfo output files on a palm pilot, you must use a program to transform the html output files of the WardInfo program into files the Palm Pilot understands.  This transformed file may then be transferred to the palm pilot for viewing.  One way to do this that works well is to use the Shareware program ISilo, which is a document reader for ISilo (and other) format files.  The transformation of html files is done using the ISiloX program.  It is an easy step to accomplish, and the ISiloX transformation compacts the html to about 2/3rds of the size of the html files.

Other viewers may also be used, as long as their document maker understands html files and will convert the WardInfo output into the appropriate document file.
