CE/NR - Digital and Field Technologies for Coastal Environmental StudiesConverting Landsat-7 Thermal Band Data to Temperature | ![]() |
![]() | |
The purpose of this module is to convert Landsat-7 satellite thermal band data into meaningful temperature values using a calibration equation. Principles of thermal radiation are discussed for an understanding of the thermal imagery. Examples of thermal imagery from satellite sensors are demonstrated in the image processing exercise. Temperature maps for selected dates are created and used for understanding water circulation patterns and seasonal temperature effects. |
